Blood Bar is an innovative solution to whole blood shortages. Our mission is to cultivate a sustainable blood supply by simplifying the blood donation system while rewarding donors. Blood Bar kiosks offer seamless donations, from screening to AI instrument-controlled blood-draws.
In it’s efforts to be a relaxed and inviting experience, Blood Bar’s name is inspired by the casual and easily accessible feeling one might get when going to a bar. The word mark features a double blood-drop shape which is meant to symbolize the giving and receiving of blood and by mimicking the flow of an infinity loop it alludes to the hope that this cycle can be self sustaining and long lasting.
After researching other blood donation service apps, events, and spaces, I began the development of the Blood Bar interface. Initially, I started with a site map and worked my way into developing the wire-frames for the medical recliner interface and app itself. I separated the key features of the app into different tabs; donate, play, community, and account. After setting the structure, I built out the UI kit to make sure the color ways and overall navigation design allowed users to move through the app with a clear understanding.
Overall the app seeks to connect users to their local Blood Bar site and to the greater Blood Bar community. It is also the key to scheduling appointments, managing user accounts, and interacting with the advertising experiences.
Upon arriving at an on-campus Blood Bar location, users will be greeted by a Blood Bar medical associate who will walk them through the experience. The Blood Bar kiosk houses a seating area as well as the actual phlebotomy recliner. It is a fully automated system kept under close supervision by a medical associate.
To coincide with the integrated reward system, Blood Bar’s ad campaign features multiple interactive advertisements that work like games. If users win a given game they are awarded additional points for their Blood Bar account. These games are accessed through the Blood Bar app and are meant to be played with multiple users.
